You won’t be able to remove all of it, just the top layer.

2) Fill a spray bottle with 3 parts distilled white vinegar and 1 part lemon juice. So, a spray bottle that holds 2 cups should be 1.5 cups of vinegar and 1/2 cup of lemon juice.

3) Shake the solution in the spray bottle and then spray it generously over the bathtub drain.

4) Shake a generous amount of baking soda over the bathtub drain.

5) Let that all sit for at least 1 hour.

6) Use the steel wool or wire brush again to scrub the drain. This will require a bit of strength so don’t be shy to scrub.

7) Rinse it all away.

Caution: be careful not to scratch the surface of your bathtub.

If the rust is so severe that it is not coming off then the next solution is to replace the bathtub drain with a new one.

If you are having problems with your bathtub drain, call Atlantis Plumbing today at 770-443-8229.
